About our Kulpati : Dr A. R. Chandraker


 

                                                     Dr. A. R. Chandraker is a Retd. Professor of Geography at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur. He held the postion of Acting Vice-Chancellor at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University for three months (from time to time) as per Section No. 14(6) Chhattisgarh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam 1973. He Worked as Reader from 1993 from 2001 in the Department of Geography earlier. He worked as Lecturer in the Department. He is Joined the University on 27-03-2001. He also functioned as Rector from August 2007 to March 2009.

He is a Student of First Batch (1965) of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. He Joined the Kenfurschug anlage, Julich, West Germany. He has visited Oxford University, Cambridge University, Manchester University and Salford University, U.K.

                                        He has authored 2 books of the research level. He Guided 5 Books of research of Ph.D. Level. His scholarship is evident from high quality of Publication Book-7 (out of these 5 are Research level). He has to his credit 3 Departmental Projects. His Unique Project on Soil of un surveyed Region was sponsored by MPCOST, Bhopal. Supervised 9 Ph.D., 58 M.Phil. and 95 M.A. Dissertation on about (36 different topics). He attended more than 24 Seminar/Conference / Workshops and Organized 8 Seminars/Conferences / Workshops.

                                       He was subject expert of Geography in selection committees for selection of Lecturer and Professor of various universities such as Dr. H.S. Gour University and M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur  and Colleges of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. He has large number of research papers on different topic to his credit which are society oriented. He has written about 16 themes of Research in Geography.

                                      He is an elected Vice-President of Indian Institute of Geographer (IIG) Pune, 2007-2010 and Secretary 2004-2007. He served as member of Governing body of IIG 1983-1996. He was elected member of Executive Council of National Association of Geographer of India, New Delhi 2002-2004. He was in Advisory Board of many National and International Symposium. He has organized six Seminar/Conference/Workshop as member, Secretary and Advisor.

                                    He is member of editorial board of the Research Journal "Sodh Prakalp". He was member of Souvenir publication and Abstract editing committee of IIG 1994.

                                    He served as Chairman of Board of Studies in Geography of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur for 5 years and member of many years. He was also member of Board of studies in Geography of Dr. H.S.Gour University Sagar and Kota Open University Kota, Rajasthan.

                                    He believes that "Future of India is in the Universities".
